What she is referring to is the recent shooting in Norway where a deranged lunatic (Anders Behring Breivik) opened fire on a number of teenagers and adults attending a summer camp. While the incident is tragic and I do not condone the actions of the shooter, blaming the gun or the "clip", which by the way is called a magazine -- Rep, McCarthy needs to learn the right terminology to not sound like a complete moron -- instead of the person is simply preposterous. It is like blaming a car for killing a pedestrian. If the psycho in Norway were not able to obtain a US manufactured Ruger Mini-14 rifle and magazines, he would have gotten a Russian AK47 or perhaps a Chinese SKS rifle with 30-round magazines. There are plenty of those floating around the world.
What Rep. McCarty doesn't seem to understand is that Norway allows its citizens to own firearms and the Mini-14 rifle used in the shooting was on the list of approved rifles. Norway also does not prohibit the citizens to own large capacity magazines.
It seems to me that perhaps Norway should revamp its gun laws in order to "prevent" future shootings. However, we know how well gun laws in US are working out. There are no shootings here, are there?
I understand why Rep. McCarty has a stick up her ass when it comes to guns. She is on a personal anti-gun crusade which started in the 1980's after her husband was shot and killed by a criminal who also happened to be an illegal immigrant.
So, once again, because of actions of one person, this government stooge wants to further diminish the relevancy of the Second Amendment and restrict the rights of lawful gun owners in US.
I am really getting tired of having to defend my rights as given to me by God and the Constitution of the United States.
