I don't hate technology as much today

Whooo Wheee! What a stressful 24 hours I'v had. I probably would have had a stroke if my data had been lost. The though of having to rebuild ten years worth of files, programs, music, etc was just too much to bear. Not to mention that some of those, such as photos and videos, are irreplaceable.
Luckily I was able to get my storage array back up and running and without any help from the vendor. Thank you very much. I am still dealing with some residual issues from this outage but all of that is peanuts comparing to what could have been.
So, what have I learned from this?
  1. I don't know crap about Linux...not a big surprise here as I am a Microsoft brat
  2. I have indeed purchased the best small business storage solution I could afford; without breaking the bank
  3. I need to implement a sound storage solution and I need to have it done YESTERDAY
  4. Having been in IT for over 15 years, I acted like a complete moron by not protecting my personal data. Granted, the storage array is redundant in many ways but it is still vulnerable to data corruption, flood and theft. I need to back up my stuff on a regular basis. End of story.
