The state with the Statue of Liberty killed liberty today. With an overwhelming majority of votes (104-41) the New York State legislature passed a new gun control bill today. This bill is supposed to "protect New Yorkers by reducing the availability of assault weapons and deterring the criminal use of firearms while promoting a fair, consistent and beneficent method of ensuring that sportsmen and other legal gun owner have full enjoyment of guns to which they are entitled."
WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT!
This bill is nothing more than an attack on law abiding gun owners. It is the first step on the road to a complete disarmament of the citizens of America. Gun control has nothing to do with guns and everything to do with control. This bill will not make New Yorkers safer, it will do the exact opposite.
Here are some of the new provisions:
- Complete ban on military style "assault" weapons (AR15, AK47, etc)
- Ban on "high capacity" (30 rounds) rifle magazines
- Ban on all magazines holding more than seven rounds
- Registration of all guns
- Background checks and electronic tracking of all ammunition purchases
- Background checks for private gun sales
- Harsher punishment for anyone caught in a school zone with a gun.
There is also a long list of mental health related reforms, one of which states that the mental health workers will be required by law to report anyone who they think may be a danger to themselves. That person then would have their license revoked and all guns confiscated. I can see how easily this provision can and most likely will be abused and misused.
This new "gun law reform" was crammed through without the proper vetting or public hearings. The Second Amendment in New York is at this point on life support. the only recourse is a law suit.
New York has just set a nasty precedence and other left leaning states are sure to follow. Massachusetts moonbats can't wit to introduce a slew of outrageous anti-gun bills. I can only hope that there are still enough Patriots in the legislation to stop the madness.
