Brakes? Who needs brakes...
I was on my way home last night and the commuter train I was on was about to pull into the train station when something weird happened. The train failed to stop and continued past the designated marker. I was quite surprised to see the station platform zoom by and thought to myself "What the hell?". The train seemed to slowed down but then it continued past the station missing the stop by the length of seven rail cars (my train only had eight). Once the train finally stopped it just sat there for several minutes before one of the conductors announced that the reason we missed the station was because there was a problem with the brakes. HOLY CRAP! They said that the brakes appeared to have iced over due to the low temperature. Considering that last night the thermometer in my truck indicated 22F I hate to see what will happened when temps go down to 0F. Most people joked about the incident but I am sure some of them were feeling quite uneasy. I know I did.
