I was supposed to be part of a team going out to meet one of our largest vendors next week. This was supposed to be an all day affair where the vendor would review their latest technological developments as well as discuss our current needs and future plans. I was looking forward to being away from the office, learning a bunch of new crap and going out for drinks and food in the evening.
Yesterday morning I found out that my manager's manager needs someone to stay behind in the office in case "something comes up". Guess who gets to go to the office instead of the off-site meeting. I was told that it was a "difficult" decision and in the end I was picked because the meeting agenda didn't quite lined up with my job function. Seriously?
What's next? They will move me down to the basement and take away my stapler?
